The 04 STi's had the same tires as the 06 STI's (the "i" is capitalized for '06's and up lol) IIRC.... I actually have a buddy over on AWDpirates that said his STI on RE070's did slightly better than his old WRX on all-season RE092's, I thought it was just in his head, maybe I mis-judged him?!? Although I think if anything, if the STI does alright on summer tires in the snow, it probably has more to do with it's uber-grippy AWD system more than tires.
Right now, I have a few bills I need to pay off by the end of November, maybe I'll wait until December to buy snow tires... did you drive your STi year round on stock tires? I do love a good AWD car with snow tires in the winter though, my Speed6 wore Pirelli 240 Sottozero snow tires and was an absolute tank last winter!
Damn, I can't remember anymore what tires the 04's came with but they were so sticky they actually did ok on the ice. They were no winter tire by any stretch but they weren't awful either.

I might swap out wheels and tires tomorrow. I have a wedding to go to today. The snow isn't going to stick around this time and there is lots of warm dry weather predicted next week..... so I don't know.

I was recently looking at different ski passes. With my projected available dates to ski, I am just going to go with a 4 pass or two to Loveland and maybe a 4 pass to Keystone. I'm skiing the 36 hours of Keystone in December, so I'll use 2 of those 4 tickets at Keystone.
I know Loveland is small and has slow chairs, but I guess since I learned to ski there back in elementary school, I think of it as one of my favorites. Once that Divide Chair opens up and the runs on the north side of I-70 are open, there is TONS to ski with no crowds. And Loveland is maybe an hour from my house.

That's pretty much all you can do in the 8. [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/61424796.gif[/img]
Speed3? Speed6, whatever...y'all ain't got nothing on the RX-8. I'd say look out, but I think I'd just sit spinnin' in one spot all day.

I don't get it. The Miata ROCKS in the snow. Everyone at work looks at me like I'm mad when I show up during a horrid storm. Not to mention all the funny looks on the way in on the clear days after when I'm rolling top down through snow on the ground.
Not to mention dooooriiiiiiiiftooooo practice without killing tires!
