Brough my Speed into the dealership about the smoking. As everyone thought, it is the seals on the turbo and Mazda is aware of the problem. Burt Mazda is going to replace the turbo and more all under warranty. I took off my intercooler & BOV and replace them with the stock. The dealership said nothing about my downpipe or the CAI. If anyone is having the same problem, let me know and I can give you my paperwork and let you know who you need to talk to.

Jake, you might consider getting a high-flow cat to replace your race pipe if it turns out your turbo is fine.

Coloskydiver, it's good to see you are on here now. I was the a-hole that was stalking you on Hampden Ave. about 2-3 months ago, trying to get your attention :D[/b]

Thanks, I good to be back. You might have been chasing down my wife. She drives the Speed more that I do because I have to have a truck for work (A bad ass truck that is). Don't let that stop you next time, feel free to give her a thumbs up if its her. She like being the bad ass girl in a fast car.

bad turbo seals?

So I may be paranoid but any thoughts would make me sleep better tonight. I had a TON of white smoke out the exhaust today when I accelerated hard and yesterday my garage was stinky and hazey while warming up the car. I have an 07 Speed3 with 20,000 miles and a test pipe (only mod) and I'm wondering if it's the seals. Before I go ripping off the test pipe for a dealer visit I thought I would check for opinions or suggestions. I know seals have been an issue on Speeds before (hence the quote) but that was a while ago and the forum has grown a lot so maybe others have gone through this too?

Thanks!

If a test pipe is the only mod you have, I'd swap your cat back in and head right to the dealer. Is your Speed 3 used, or are you the original owner? Either way, it's probably the turbo seals.

There's really no way around it....trip to the dealer should get it fixed. You'll have to consider that if you put the cat back on, the smoke may go away. If you leave it off, the dealer may not like it. You should talk to a service manager about it and go from there.
