I Knew It Would Happen...

Well, since I've finally abandoned driving to work (how lazy was it to drive 6 blocks??), my girlfriend wants to start driving the RX-8 to work. I'm glad she's finally warmed up to the car (took her a bit, she wasn't excited when I traded in the 6). She's got an Escape and told me she wants to start driving a sports car. Hehe.

you going to let her drive your 8 or will she be getting her own? [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]

I imagine, unless I take it apart tonight (which I'm planning to) she'll drive it tomorrow. She drove it for the first time last Saturday and I think that gave her the bug to drive it some more. I'm not allowing any rain or snow driving, though. Especially since I've finally managed to steal the garage, for the time being.

To answer your question you probably didn't want answered - DAMN LAZY! I walk just over a mile to work to avoid driving! For shame! [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img] Seriously tho, good thing your gf is taking to the car, it's a helluva lot more fun than an Escape. What's her commute like? Any fun backroad twisties?

Well, although not walking was lazy in itself, the real source of laziness was it took me so long to get a parking permit. I have a 2 hour parking limit in front of my loft, unless you get a permit from the city. I wasn't able to get one with temp tags, so I sucked it up and got plates, and got the parking permit. Funny thing is, now that I did that, I park in the garage.
No twisties for her, just boring highway...8 mile commute, or something like that.

Wow....
I have said to my wife that she can drive the Speed6...but she wont. I ask why, she says, "because I couldn't live with you if I crashed it".....lol.
Deep down though....I don't want her to drive it....haha, reverse psychology works... [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/61424796.gif[/img]

hahaha I have always driven Pooh Bear's cars. I loved driving the RX-8 to work when I was working in Castle Rock.. The straight highway I-25. Going 100+ And then the looks I got from the people I worked with was great too... Pooh Bear always wanted me to drive his eclipse, after he bought it he realized he had a girlie car and never wanted to drive it, so I did! lol. I loved the exhaust on that car, sounded so mean. Not to mention the sound system that we put in that car was bad ass. Now that he has the Jetta, I would prefer to drive my CeXy. hahaha

I want my wife to drive my car, but she refuses as she know's what a freak I am about it,
I don't even like people looking at it wrong. [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]

We'll see if she actually does or not. That's kind of the same way we are. I think the main reason she wants to drive is because she thinks she needs new tires on the Escape. I'll check those out tonight and see.

Heh, I'm kinda in the same boat. I live downtown Baltimore so it's either walk, ride the depressing LightRail or Metro Subway, or pay $120/mo to park my car a mile from my apt. So I walk. I'm lucky enough to have a parking spot behind my apt, but if the spaces are filled then I have to park my car on the street. Natural recourse is to get a permit for the street - nope, denied, apparently my side of the block was not included in the city's parking plan. So if I ever have to park on the street overnight then I have to fork over the $8-$10 to park it for the day. Fortunately that hasn't happened for quite a while. That sucks! At least my little parking permit is free. (And strangely enough, when I registered the RX-8, it too was cheaper than the 6i. So, thus far, insurance and registration is cheaper. Weird.)

I pay $200.00 per month to park downtown!! Unfortunately, public transportation would do me no good as I would have to drive half-way to work to catch an express bus (so what's the point - I'd get to work in the same amount of time) or I'd have to catch a local bus that would make 450 stops on my way in and I'd have to leave my house 3 hours before I needed to be at work. The Erie airport is right down the road and most of the properties around the airport have their own driveway for their planes.. maybe I need to make some friends with wings..
