Couple Tech Questions
Ive been looking at getting a performance clutch and flywheel for my 05 6s. SR motorsports has a good set but is twice as much as others I have found, anyone know how much install would cost from anywhere and if you have had a perfomance clutch and flywheel install is it worth the money? Also ive never known what perfomance engine mounts do to improve performance...I would love to know! haha Thanks

I am hardly an expert in the area or any area, but I seem to recall depending on the clutch/flywheel you upgrade to
impacts the driveability of your vehicle on a daily basis, so this is something to consider when you made the decision.

I don't have any Mazda experience, but I replaced the failing stock-type clutch on my Saturn with a 6 puck ACT race disk and a lightweight Fidanza flywheel. This clutch was like an on/off switch- there was no slipping of the clutch, only slipping of the tires. Well, this is a small exaggeration, but not by much. Doing low speed parking lot manuevers was little tricky. And the lightweight flywheel took a little getting used to- combined with the race clutch, I stalled it a few times from time to time. But those where the only downsides. The car was instantly turned into a rev monster and would rip right through the tachometer. If adding lightweight pullies, that maybe remove 2 total pounds, is a popular and worthwhile mod- just imagine what removing 10-12 (don't know the specs for the 6 flywheel) pounds will do! I loved my combo after I did it.
As far as install goes- I installed my own so I don't know. Call around and get quotes for a clutch job. Adding the flywheel replacement should added too much labor.

I have a ACT Prolight Flywheel and a Clutch Masters stage 1 clutch. 6i is correct that these mods affect the daily drive. With the flywheel the car an accelerate quicker and decelerate quicker. The disadvantage is starting uphill from a stop is harder. I went with a street clutch setup. It took all 500 miles to break it in and now, once i got used to it, i can almost dive it like a stock one.
There is one affect of the new clutch that i really am starting to get upset at. With the ClutchMasters stage one there is a lot of chatter from the clutch. I can hear it when i am at lower rpms which is most of the time in daily driving.

I think I could get used to the harder to drive with the acceleration increase! And thanks for the info on SR motorsports 6i, most of my parts came from RPM and they have been very good so i think i will stick with them! Hows is the longevity of the stage 1 street set up?

The drivability is affected, I have to rev my car about twice as high as with the stock setup when strarting on a hill. I have about 30k on my setup and it still works great. I don't know what is offered on your car but on my car they have a light weight steel and aluminum flywheels. The steel is ok for street and the aluminum is race only.

I did the install my self, but being RWD it is not that hard.
Except for the really big nut that RX-7s have that were installed by king kong.
for me it was just pull the drive shaft, transmision mount, starter and about 6 bults.

Thats because it takes you 30min to find out what a tire is, and 50min to find which side of the car the motor is on.
