2jz VVT-i FD rx7 build

Ok Here is the 2jz gte vvti FD build thread. As far as i know no one has ever done the 2jz VVT-i in an FD rx7 so hopefully im the first. I do want to get this in a magazine so everything i do is gonna be a clean smooth build.

Parts So far

2jz gte VVT-i
R154 with jz bellhousing
4in custom tech2 intercooler
3in intercooler hardpiping
Greddy rs blow off valve
Bonez straight midpipe
HKS exhaust
tech2 2jz/1jz subframe and swap kit (this was pricy)
Evo r headlight conversion
Tein rear bar
Chiped ECU

Parts Needed
ACT 650ft clutch (i will get this with the flywheel in a few weeks)
Lightweight 1jz flywheel
pilot bearing
hub kit
Starter
Wire harness service
custom tech2 radiator kit
custom jz hose kit
Fabricated intercooler piping with bov flange
tech2 APR performance hood

im probably missing a few parts so i will add them in as the build goes on :)

Are you running the stock snails on the Toyota engine? And keeping the Toyota engine pretty much stock?

I would advise going with a standalone ECU, it will make things MUCH easier than a chipped one.

I would love to go stand alone ecu but after spending 8k on parts alone just drains me haha ( gotta love spending bulk amounts of money on car parts). So im going with all stock parts for now. even after stock parts will put me at around 325ish hp. after i get her on the streets im looking into a greddy TD06 and custom headers etc, and then for an AEM ecu, the problem is i have to find something that will control the VVT-i, thats another reason i just have the ECU chipped right now. If i go bigger turbo i need a new ECU cuz the VVT-i only limits me to about 500hp, i think. if i go that high i would just de vvti the whole thing and get performance cams etc.

UPDATES!!!..

Got the vvti in!!

Parts needed:
Custom Tech2 hood
Harness mod
custom radiator kit
custom hose kit
electric fans
Custom intercooler fab work

Mabey a t66 thrust bearing turbo kit..most likley going with this just to simplify the turbo system ;)

Looks like you will need a hood with a buldge on it to fit over that beast!

Thanks guys...i ended up having to switch sump set ups from a front to a rear sump cuz my front sump would hit the steer rack, luckily Tech2 motorsports had an extra mid/rear sump assymbaly laying around :D.

If i get that t66 thrust bearing turbo the LS1 fd's wont have a chance, if i can grip that is haha or if they did some crazy ass mods themselves

T66 turbo and then is time for a standalone haha. And the AEM can control variable camshafts.
