I was quite excited about my Speed6 coming with a Bose system as standard....until I listened to it...eek!
Granted, most people find the Bose to be more than acceptable.....but those who don't will relate to this mod...

The Bose Sub...that was the first to go...
Custom Sub box - Boston Acoustics Amp and an Image Dynamics 10" sub.
Image

Head Unit Install - This was the tough one. The hardware from a metra kit was mated to my existing face plate...
I believe I am the first to try this....it works extremely well...

If your an Audiophile...this is a mod that comes highly recomended... [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/9b5bde.gif[/img]

I have seen this in person, nice work. I like the fact the sub sub enclosure/amp take up minimal trunk space.
so you upgraded the sub/am only? any future plans?

I like installers, they help me hardwire things in my car [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

Looks good lee.. If you need any help on anything in the future let me know.. I know alot bout that kinda crap, as you can tell from my own car lol... But ya, with the Focals you should be pretty happy with those.. I might look into them myself.. Im thinking bout starting back up a project that I had started last summer but never finished and that is doing some custom Fiberglass kick panels and doing a 3way set up with 6.5" in the kicks, 5.25" in the doors and then the tweets in the stock location..

What's the deal with the "My Mazda6" on the LCD display? I thought the middle section of the LCD went away when you remove the stock HU?

Oh, and lol @ Nickelback.

I used the hardware from the metra kit which is why you see the "My Mazda6" thing. If I had used the Metra Turbo II kit, I could have customized that display....oh well.
Yeah...Nickelback...didn't realize what was playing when I took the photo...lol.

I'm not sure when this is going to happen, might be next month....but, it's time to perform operation "Remove the rest of the Bose crap"... [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/61424796.gif[/img]

here's the plan:
Replace front door speakers with Focal 165KPS.
Replace rear door speakers with Focal 165CV1.
All powered by an Alpine PDX4100 (100w to each speaker).
Both front and rear doors will be covered with Dynomat.

I can't wait... [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/26fdf3e6.gif[/img]
