Tranny on MS3

Postby sookiespeed » Mon Nov 09, 2009 9:14

So...driving the Speed saturday nearing Bijou on I25 north and start to hear what sounds like rocks in a tin can. Pull off Fontenaro exit shut off the car...turn it back on with the clutch in...no noise...neutral let out the clutch...DAMN LOUD.....no 1st gear. i've had issue with the car and 1st gear since i got it. Impossible to get into first unless at a complete stop ONLY when cold...when warm it will go into 1st just fine between 3 and 5 MPH...WTF....dealer still looking at it.

Gave me a 2008 3 sedan with auto for loaner..not complaining its free but what a dog...no offense to standard 3 owners just spoiled by my speed

Did you buy the car new? Not being able to get it into gear when it's cold outside is normal-ish. Everything works a bit better when it's all warmed up.

I hope you get your speed back soon!

I don't have any issues with noises ((Knock on wood)). I do notice it is hard for me to downshift into first when the engine is cold though, I am assuming that just may be true for all MS3's when they are cold.

Good luck with the fix, I will be interested in hearing what the dealership has to say about this...

Oh I didn't notice it was 09...if it has over 35,000 miles it should be done, however
