Update

Postby rx8ghost » Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:14

Hey all,

It's been pretty busy here in Afghanistan but everything is going well. Only about 6 months left! I finally got around to ordering some stuff to install with I'm on R&R. The list:

TurboXS Exhaust with test pipe
mitx CarPC with Liliput 7" 629
Metra Dash Kit
4080 Sub Enclosures
2 x 10" Kicker CompVR Dual 4-Ohm Subs
Apline PDX 600w 5-Channel Amp
6x8" Infinity Kappa Compnents (Front and Rear)
Prosport Boost, Oil Press, Oil Temp, Water Temp, EGT Gauges
And some other stuff I can't remember.

Gonna do the turbo upgrade and probably AEM Meth Injection when I get back. Thinking about suspension but I want speed first :) Well hope everythings going well back there.

Good stuff man!

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but every ProSport boost gauge I've had experience with reads pretty inaccurately.

Afghanistan sucks. Not much of anything to look at. Our FOB doesn't have an MWR so it can be difficult to get internet access. I should be back for the summer so I should be able to make it to all the big car shows.

Chickenwafer- I haven't installed them yet so I can always send them back. Got any recommendations?

STACK boost gauges are really good. Autometer ones are generally pretty accurate.

Stay safe out there man!

CW - Thanks I'll definitely look into. We gotta get together when I get back and do some tuning :)

To everyone - The high gloss panels in my interior are starting to show their age. I was thinking about updating them and was looking at one of the CF Dash Kits. I'm kinda thinking it might be over kill but has anyone seen one of these personally or have any input on it? Do you think I'd be better off just replacing the high gloss panels? Thanks!

So the list just keeps growing. I gotta stop spending money haha. I bought the Synapse Synchronic BOV and I debating whether or not to jump on a GB for Gunmetal 18x9.5" Enkei RPF1s. It's an unbelievable price but the size is kinda throwing me off. Any suggestions?

What offset are the RPF1's?

My wheels have been on order since October and still not here, LOL, they are 18x9.5". But they will be worth it.

Anyways, you can easily fit the RPF1's even with an offset as low as +15. You will need to stretch some tire over them, tho and roll and pull your fenders a little. The biggest rubber you could get on those rims with a +15 offset is a 245 with a super low sidewall like 40 or 35. Kinda defeats the purpose of a wide rims when you're just stretching the same size tire on it, tho, LOL

They are + 35 (Not 100% can't get the rx8club right now) offset. As far as rolling the fenders does that apply to the front cuz they are fiberglass which might need some further work haha.

You have fiberglass front fenders? Ouch! Haha

The front doesn't need a roll too bad, especially with a +35 offset. The rear will need a roll, but that's it.

No way, that's called good fitment! I've been hanging out with the drift crew too much I guess. I stretched a 235/40 on a 17x10 +20 offset on the front of my FD and I think it looks great. I'm not sure about RX-8s, chickenwafer obviously knows them way better than I ever will, but I find it really hard to believe you'd need to roll the rear fenders with a 18x9.5 +35. I'd go for something with a lower offset than +35, if I were you. The wheels will probably be sunken into the fenders with that offset, especially if your front fenders are wider than stock.

Haha long story behind it but I do like the look compared to stock

I can't imagine having to roll the rear now that I think about it. I have 19x9.5" +45 on the rear now and they are actually too sunken in for my tastes. Perhaps I'm just mistaken. You guys probably know a lot more about this then I do.
