I didn't think a 7 second 0-60 sounded right so I did a little digging and found this article:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/car/06q2/2006_chevrolet_impala_ss-road_test

0-60 in 5.6 seconds. You may have been thinking of the older Impala SS from the 90s. I have seen other magazines test them as being slower, Edmunds has them at 6.4s 0-60, but then there is a pretty big range of tests for the MS3 as well. I've seen anywhere from 5.4s to 6.1s. Being a turbo car against an N/A car at altitude, that should have widened the gap a little, but like I said I wasn't expecting a race so got on it late. Still, the Impala SS will surprise some people I'm sure, especially if they do a little work to it.

Kind of challenged by a Silver MS6 today on Powers northbound. Dude with a goatee (red or brown hair) driving....he was gaining on me pretty fast when I had to turn off to go to the gym.

You friends with Joel Felix, the white/black SRT? Not many cars around that his car wouldn't have taken out. Car's goooone now.

Wow....35 pages, and I've never once looked at this thread. Never knew what it was about. Thought it was about day-to-day challenges people face in the course of living life, not racing. lol fail.

Ah, I didn't know they made the SS for 2006. I looked up the 2000 model, I think.

5.6 is pretty quick for a FWD car, but you're right...altitude + FI should have given you the edge.

Modified evo 8. He caught me at a light. His dumb ass grin told me he wanted to run, so I made sure to let him know I was stock. Anyways, I had him halfway through 2nd, then he was gone. I stuck to him pretty good, but couldn't catch his 2 car lengths.:( Inevitable fail for me. Then a boosted rsx type-s. He took me by surprise for he looked stock other then rims. He was cool, and told me he was heavly modified. When I heard his monster turbo start to spool, and his extremely loud bov, I knew I was fucked.

These two benches were done on open road, with no traffic ahead. I try my best not to bench for its a whopping 12 point ticket, and really unsafe, especially with other drivers on the road.;)

What color was the RSX? A guy in my office has one that is boosted, red I believe.

Challenged by a Charger R/T this morning on my way to the gym. LOL. I know they're like 325HP, but they also weigh nearly 4200 lbs and up here, lose a lot of punch due to altitude.

Now an SRT-8 Charger...little quicker. But still mother-in-law-ugly.

LOL! A guy in my office has a charger SRT8, with 24 inch rims and flags on each side (Gamecocks). I told him his SRT8 would be half decent without the rims and the flags. We go back and forth all day as to whose car is better.

Actually my office makes up a pretty nice garage:

Is it black? The black Charger SRT8s are hot, like the one in Street Kings. Shitty movie, cool car.

Are those just in your office or in your entire company. If we added everyone that works in my building I could throw in the following:

EVO X
2010 Camaro

Might put me over the top, :D
